Canon EOS 1300D DSLR Camera Review

As one of the users of canon eos 1300D or Rebel T6, I’m quite happy with its performance. Today I’m going to review Canon EOS 1300d or rebel t6 DSLR camera. Should you take it in 2023? We’ll give you the answer to this question too. Let’s first talk about its specifications.

Canon 1300D is my first camera, and I have had quite a fantastic experience. As a beginner in the photography world I’m a bit confused as a lot of good DSLRs there are in the market about which one is right for me and which one to buy.

Then I have done a little research and asked some of my friends and they refer me to Canon 1200D/rebelT5. Canon 1200D is released in 2014 and is an entry-level beginner DSLR, and 1300D is an update of 1200D, with the same sensor type and the same DIGIC 4+ as 1200D, 1300D entered the market with some more little updates like wifi and NFS features and a little bit faster the 1200D.

1300D is a better version of 1200D, which gives you a bit better experience than 1200D. When I planned to buy a new DSLR 1300D already entered the market and its demand is high, so I thought to buy it and after buying it I never regret it.

Design and Build Quality:

Externally Canon EOS 1300D has a very close resemblance to 1200D which makes it compact and gives you a better feel. Controls and bottoms are as good as physical bodies and SLR weight. At 129mm wide, 101.3mm high, and 77.6mm deep, the 1300D is 0.6mm narrower and 0.3mm shallower than the 1200D, but 1.6mm taller and weighs almost 485g ready to shoot.

The 1300D’s carbon fiber polycarbonate body feels reasonably solid and well built, though predictably for an entry-level Canon DSLR but it isn’t weather-sealed and dustproof but at a reasonable price you have to compensate somewhere.

1300D also works well ergonomically with decent-sized thumb rest and the exposure compensation and playback zoom buttons positioned conveniently on top of either side of it. The handgrip is nice and finger recces are quite fine and your thumb can easily reach controls and buttons. Its lightweight gives you a more comfortable feel.

Canon 1300D gives you clear and functional quick access to the menu and menu table, the main menu is also laid out well and easy to navigate. For those who are new to the photography world and don’t know how to operate a DSLR manually then there is another aspect of 1300D which is the mode dial. It’s cluttered with various scene mode settings, including Night Portrait, Food, Sports, Macro, Landscape, and Portrait presets.

There’s also a Creative Auto mode that operates exactly as regular Auto mode, except you control the extent of background blur you’d like behind your subject by adjusting a virtual slider. All this does is control Aperture, ISO, shutter speed, and white balance. Now back to rearview, you’ll get 3 inch LCD screen with 170-degree horizontal and vertical viewing angles, its screen resolution has respectable 920,000 dots. This is particularly used to take a close look when taking pictures and use when making videos and gives a resolution of 1080×1920.

Canon 1300d dual lens

Canon EOS 1300D comes in 2 variants of lenses:

  • 1st 1300D body + 18-55mm kit lens
  • 2nd 1300D body + 18-55m and 55-250mm kit lens

18-55mm lens: This lens allows you to take wide-angle pictures at a closer distance hand an aperture of 3.5 which gives a bit of blur.

This lens is good to take pictures of large groups in which you want all of your friend and family members to appear. This lens also can be used in little parties and functions.

55-250mm lens:  This lens allows you to take long-distance pictures at a closer look, without any problem, and without even pixelating images.

This lens can be used to take animal and bird pictures with this lens you can also do fashion and model shot because this lens gives you amazing blur and make your pictures even more attentive and professionalized which enhance your knowledge of pictures and sharpen your skills. Moreover, you can also take an external lens like the prime lenses of 50mm or 35mm or a telephoto lens.

Image Quality:

Canon EOS 1300D gives you good image quality on a normal setting of 5184×3456 pixels which is better to look at even after zooming the image. Sharpness and color grains are good and you can look at each and every color differentiating from each other. What I like the most about Canon DSLR are their rich color images that feel like real viewing, and the features also come in 1300D the color is so good and rich in the image.

If you like to edit and expose images after clicking then I recommend you to click pictures in the RAW setting, the RAW imager is big in size but this gives you a better experience in editing and you can manipulate every color and make a different style of look which makes your images looks more cool, attractive and appealing. If you are clicking images in RAW then make sure that your card is premium and of high speed which processes RAW images fast. Unless with the slow card, your images take more time to process.

Video Quality:

Canon EOS 1300D allows you to make videos in different settings, resolutions, and Frames per second. The highest you can record is 1080×1920 in 30FPS, which is good for beginners. You can record for 29:59 seconds in a single file, and if you think this is a problem then no it’s the same with all Canon DSLRs even high-end and expensive DSLRs have these limits. Even this DSLR can record and make a nice video.

WIFI and NFC:

WIFI and NFS are the updated features of 1300D, this feature gives you access to DSLR from mobile by connecting with WIFI or NFC. You just have to download the Canon app on your mobile and then connect your mobile to the camera’s WIFI by enabling it from the setting. First, you have to complete the setup of WIFI in camera the enable it and then connect your mobile, after connecting just open the Canon app and it will automatically give you access, after that, you can also operate the DSLR from your mobile and click pictures.

Also, WIFI and NFS are used for sharing images, in the same app you have to go to the second option (IMAGES) and then you can select and download images, and those images will appear or be downloaded on your mobile and then you can easily share and send those pictures where ever you want. This is the quick and instant feature that is new and best, giving this feature in entry-level DSLR makes it worth buying.

Battery:

Canon 1300d can take 700 photographs in full charge and it can record a minimum of 60 minutes of video on HD settings. If in your mind have questions like – If both photos and videos are taken with this camera on a single charge, how long will it be able to survive? so let us know for your information, in both usages, the camera can take 300 photos and record 30 minutes of video.
